At NuStar we take our commitment to health & safety to the next level by striving to have all our eligible facilities designated as Star Worksites in the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
OSHA started VPP to establish cooperative action among government, industry and labor in promoting highly effective safety and health programs that go above and beyond normal OSHA worker protection compliance.
While VPP is a voluntary program, it involves a rigorous and complex process designed to ensure that only the best programs qualify and are certified as VPP Star Worksites, which is the highest level of safety recognition and certification a worksite can receive from OSHA.
Additionally, OSHA will re-audit each VPP Star certified worksite to ensure sites maintain and continuously improve on their exemplary safety and health programs.
As of December 31, 2020, 85% of our eligible U.S. terminals have received VPP Star Status.
